2013 - Present.
Marwan Dalal founded and led Hikmah - Center for International Law and Human Rights since February 2013. Established originally as Grotius - Center for International Law and Human Rights, the purpose of the organization stems from his experience as an Appeals Prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. Its objective is to hold officials in powerful countries, particularly the United States, accountable for violating international law. It also focuses on the Question of Palestine and Israel's persistent violations of Palestinians' rights as a colonial and apartheid state.
Before joining the ICTY, Mr. Dalal litigated extensively as a civil rights and human rights attorney before the Israeli Supreme Court against the Israeli government, military, and security services. He also worked in East Jerusalem, advising on Israel's status and violations.
The organization combines concise legal, political, social, and historical analysis to advance its objectives of holding powerful individuals accountable and promoting the rights of Palestinians.
